Zoloft significantly reduce sperm concentration and damage sperm quality
Zoloft, a common SSRI or antidepressant, has been found by medical researchers to significantly (i) reduce sperm concentration (sperm count) (ii) increase the number of sperm abnormal in size and shape, (iii) damage sperm DNA and (iv) damage sperm motility. Sperm motility is the ability of sperm to move or ‘swim’ to reach the egg.
In other words, Zoloft, and other SSRI/antidepressants, can significantly reduce a man’s fertility.
The use of Antidepressant drugs “should particularly be considered in patients who are trying to conceive” writes the medical study authors, led by Zahra Sepehrmanesh, MD, Kashan University of Medical Sciences in Iran.
These doctors have recommended that men should avoid taking antidepressants if there is any concerns about fertility.
The researchers further note that “Although in recent years the use of medication in many psychiatric disorders has become quite common and acceptable, the importance of research on the harmful effects of these drugs should not be neglected.”
The doctors also note that these antidepressant medications can also lower libido and erectile rigidity and function.
Other side effects of these dangerous antidepressants include mild nausea, severe sweating, extreme fatigue, change in bowel function, reduced bone mineral density, weight gain and type 2 diabetes.
Should medical professionals that prescribe antidepressant medications, without a clinical diagnosis of severe depression, have their head examined?
