Simple foundations for wellbeing 💛🧠

You are not too much. You are human. And you deserve kindness—especially from yourself.

Being triggered is a normal response to stress, past trauma, or overwhelming situations. It’s not a flaw. It’s your nervous system doing what it was designed to do—protect you.

When you’re triggered, you might feel attacked, humiliated, scared, unloved, powerless, overwhelmed, helpless, judged, gaslighted, belittled, left out, anxious, betrayed, or controlled.

And in those moments, your automatic reactions might take over—lashing out, blaming, getting aggressive, withdrawing, people-pleasing, numbing, deflecting, justifying, getting defensive, catastrophizing, attacking, shutting down, over-explaining, or beating yourself up.

But here’s the truth: You have a choice.

Instead of reacting the way you always have, you can pause, breathe, and choose a different response—one that honors your feelings without harming yourself or others.

Try👇
↳ Removing yourself from the situation to regulate
↳ Naming your thoughts and feelings
↳ Being self-compassionate instead of self-critical
↳ Deep breathing to calm your nervous system See Relaxed Breathing Calms Your Nervous System
↳ Grounding techniques to anchor yourself in the present
↳ Going for a walk or moving your body
↳ Hitting a punching ball to release tension
↳ Taking a shower to reset
↳ Talking with a trusted friend
↳ Connecting with nature
↳ Journaling your emotions

Takeaways

Healing doesn’t mean never feeling triggered again. It means building the capacity to respond with awareness, compassion, and choice.
